Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

SUPERUS Inc. ("SUPERUS", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting the personal information of everyone who visits our website or uses our services. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and what rights you have under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

If you have questions about this policy or want to make a privacy request, contact us at  or by mail at #417 – 1048 21 Ave SE, Calgary AB T2G 1N2.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to anyone who visits superus.ca, uses our free website tools, submits an enquiry, or engages with us through our website. It does not apply to third-party websites we may link to.

2. What Personal Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary for the purposes described below. The personal information we may collect includes:

Contact information — your name, email address and the content of any message you send us through our contact form or enquiry forms.

Website usage data — pages visited, time spent on pages, general location (city or region level only), device type and browser type. This is collected in aggregate and is not linked to your identity.

Tool usage data — when you use our free website analysis tools, you submit a URL for analysis. We do not store the URLs you submit or the results returned to you beyond what is needed to temporarily cache results and prevent abuse.

IP address — collected temporarily for rate limiting purposes to prevent misuse of our free tools. We do not store IP addresses beyond the duration of a session.

3. How We Collect It

We collect personal information in the following ways:

  • Directly from you when you fill out a contact or enquiry form on our website
  • Automatically through standard web server logs and analytics tools when you browse our site
  • Through your use of our free website tools (URL submission only)

We do not collect personal information through deceptive or misleading means.

4. Why We Collect It and How We Use It

We collect personal information for specific, identified purposes. We will not use your information for any purpose other than those listed here without obtaining your consent first.

To respond to enquiries — when you contact us through our website, we use your name and email address to respond to your message.

To send a confirmation — when you submit a contact form, we send you an automatic acknowledgement to the email address you provided. This is a transactional message, not a marketing email.

To improve our website and tools — aggregate, non-identifiable usage data helps us understand how our tools and pages are being used so we can make improvements.

To prevent abuse — IP addresses are used temporarily to enforce fair use limits on our free tools (maximum number of requests per hour). This data is not stored permanently.

To send marketing communications — we will only send you promotional emails if you have expressly consented to receive them. You may withdraw consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by emailing us directly.

5. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We may share it in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers — we use a small number of third-party services to operate our website and tools. These providers only receive information necessary to perform their specific function and are required to protect it appropriately:

  • Anthropic (anthropic.com) — our free SEO and content tools send page data (URLs and page content) to Anthropic's Claude AI to generate analysis and recommendations. No personal contact information is sent. See Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
  • Google (google.com) — our Performance Checker uses the Google PageSpeed Insights API. URLs you submit are sent to Google for analysis. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Microlink (microlink.io) — our Meta and Open Graph Checker uses Microlink to preview page metadata. URLs you submit are processed by Microlink.
  • WP Engine / hosting provider — our website is hosted on servers that process data in accordance with applicable privacy law.

Legal requirements — we may disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order or lawful government authority.

Business transfers — in the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected individuals before their information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not share personal information with any other third parties.

6. Cookies and Tracking

Our website may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to support site functionality and collect aggregate usage data. Cookies are small text files stored on your device.

We use:

Essential cookies — required for the website to function. These cannot be disabled.

Analytics cookies — used to understand how visitors use our site in aggregate. We do not use analytics that track individuals across sites or build personal profiles.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some parts of our site.

We do not use advertising cookies or share data with advertising networks.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected:

  • Contact form submissions — retained for up to 24 months for the purpose of maintaining a record of client communications, then deleted.
  • Tool usage cache data — URL analysis results are cached for up to 6 hours to improve performance, then automatically deleted. IP-based rate limit records are deleted after 1 hour.
  • Web analytics data — aggregate, non-identifiable usage data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify individuals.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. These measures include encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and limited data retention.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights Under Alberta PIPA

If you are an Alberta resident, you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.

Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to provide certain services.

Complaint — if you believe we have not handled your personal information appropriately, you may contact our Privacy Officer (details below) or file a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta at oipc.ab.ca.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us in writing at . We will respond within 30 days. In some cases we may need to verify your identity before processing a request.

10. Children's Privacy

Our website and services are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Links to Third-Party Websites

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of our website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
